Abstract
In this talk the history of Hubble's constant is reviewed from the discovery of the velocity-distance relation to the present day measurement with the Hubble Space Telescope. The problems encountered in fixing the true value of Hubble's constant are briefly discussed. The implications of the present measured values of this constant for cosmology, in particular for the hot big bang models, are discussed.
