On doing cosmology with a large optical telescope

Abstract
This paper highlights the interesting problems in cosmology that require observational inputs normally available from optical telescopes in the 4-6 m class. The case is made that a large optical telescope built for and in India in the next few years can generate sufficient astronomy of world class to justify its cost.
